Hailing from Wyoming, Sage Palser, Tessa Taylor, and Morgan Blaney are Prairie Wildfire. There music is described as “a fusion of folk, bluegrass, classic country, and Wyoming-style western.” I'd describe them as country-bluegrass with a strong country inflection. If you like your Country flavored with Bluegrass, or your Bluegrass flavored with Country, this CD is for you. Classic country to me is Webb Pierce and Faron Young, but I'm old. If you dial your radio to any classic country station, you'll hear Garth, Reba, and the Judds, all of whom are influences to Prairie Wildfire.

There are eleven songs here:

My Favorites are: Heart You Couldn't Hold, a love gone bad country song, co-written and sung by Taylor; What Crosses Your Mind, a beautiful heart-broken ballad co-written and sung by Palser. The vocals and the harmonies put me in remembrance of The Whites; Bowling Green, a fabulous rendition of this traditional song, and perhaps my favorite on the album; Blue For You, a lonesome country ballad, beautiful vocals and steel guitars. What's not to like?; and, When The Wind Passes By, an absolutely beautiful country ballad, more pedal steel guitars, a soft Telecaster, lullaby-esque, like a hymn, transporting. I am speculating that the lead singer on this is Blaney, but I do not know for sure; no information is given. I sure enjoyed it. I want more.
I'd like to hear more from Prairie Wildfire. I'd also like to hear more about who played what and when, even extending to the Prairie Wildfire girls. This CD is well produced, professional. One David Stewart gets co-writer credits on six of the songs, including some of my faves.
Best wishes, Prairie Wildfire. Let us hear more or your playing, singing, and writing. There's a lot more there, I'll bet.
Let us have it!
